Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between counseling and coaching?
Counseling is provided by licensed mental health professionals (LPC, LCSW) and addresses emotional, behavioral, relational, and mental health concerns through evidence-based therapeutic modalities like play therapy, trauma-informed care, and CBT. We work with your child or family to heal, process, and grow.
Coaching focuses on helping parents apply practical strategies and build new parenting skills. It's future-focused and parent-centered.

How do I know if my child—or our family—needs counseling?
Parents often wonder if their situation is "serious enough." The truth is, counseling helps families navigate a wide range of challenges.
Common reasons families seek counseling:
-
Anxiety or worry that interferes with daily life
-
Difficulty with emotional regulation or big feelings
-
Behavioral challenges or defiance
-
Family transitions (divorce, loss, moves, new siblings)
-
Relationship struggles or family conflict
-
Trauma or difficult experiences
-
School challenges or social difficulties
-
Grief, depression, or low self-esteem
If your family is struggling or you're unsure, reach out. A brief conversation can help determine if counseling is a good fit.
Do parents participate in counseling?
We believe children make the greatest progress when parents are part of the process. While every situation is different, we regularly partner with parents because lasting change happens when families grow together.
Your counselor will discuss how to involve you in a way that supports your child's healing and your family's growth.
Which counselor is the best fit for my family?
All of our counselors bring deep expertise and warmth to their work.
When you schedule, let us know a bit about your situation and we'll match you with the counselor who's the best fit.
Do you work with adults as well as children and teens?
Yes. While much of our work is with children, teens, and families, we also provide counseling for adults navigating their own emotional, relational, or mental health concerns.
Do you accept insurance?
We are an out-of-network practice, which allows us to focus on providing personalized care based on your family's needs rather than insurance requirements. If you have out-of-network benefits, we're happy to provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. At this time, we do not accept SoonerCare.
How long does counseling usually last?
Every family is different. Some come for a specific season of support (like navigating a family transition), while others benefit from longer-term counseling as new challenges arise or they continue building healthier patterns.
We'll discuss your goals during your first appointment and develop a plan together.
What happens during the first appointment?
The first session is about listening, understanding your situation, and learning about your goals. We'll ask questions, get to know your family, and begin developing a plan for moving forward together.
It's typically 50-60 minutes, and we focus on making sure you feel heard and understood.
Still not sure whether counseling or coaching is the best fit?
We'd be happy to help you decide. Reach out and we'll point you toward the option that's most appropriate for your family.
